That game last night had everything and i'm still pinching myself how it ended. There was so many debatable decisions and we all have our own opinions of them, either by being at the game or watching the game on sky sports. The sending off of Danny Batth was always going to happen, as soon as a player goes to ground in the so called '"modern era", there was only one outcome. I actually said at the time with Batth being so high up the pitch, and then going to ground, irrespective of having the ball, the follow will always be deemed as dangerous play.
I actually thought the sending off would be our downfall, but in many ways it made Wolves stronger. I could criticise Ruddy for his numerous goal kicks that he put out of play, but my word, he made some important saves. Barry Douglas, what a player Wolves have signed, his delivery from a dead ball is second to none, the first half free-kick and then the two that led to our victory.
Before the game i thought it was harsh of Nuno to leave Ryan Bennett out, but we have a squad and rotation helps keep the players on their toes. The main turning point from a Wolves perspective was the introduction of Cavaleiro, he was on fire, Bristol City couldn't handle his pace. Some may feel sorry for Costa, but it just didn't happen for him last night. For me he doesn't look like the same player he was before he got injured. He is also playing with better players. He has also contributed to a winning side this season.
There are so many unsung heroes in the Wolves starting eleven and squad, one for who really stands out is Matt Doherty, the energy of the player to get forward on so many occasions is one to be admired. His run and cut it inside led to him being taken down by Fielding. One thing we will never know is if Doherty would have scored, but the City keeper gave the ref no choice.
Barry Douglas was so pivotal in Wolves comeback, first his equaliser and then the one for Bennett to score. What a game to be at.
I was asked on the coach on the way back how does it compare to game from years gone by. A couple of games that stood out for me was Steve Bull's last minute winner at the hawthorns and the second, Stephen Hunt's goal against Blackburn.
