Wolves are in a relegation scrap, make no mistake they are struggling big time. The early goal from Doherty just papered over the cracks in my opinion. Wolves never kept hold of the ball long enough to mount any serious threat on the Cardiff City goal, bar the Saville effort at 1-1.
Cardiff's main weapon all night really was the long throw from Gunnarsson, which for the most part was dealt with by both Batth and Stearman. The loss of Costa at half-time didn't help Wolves' cause as he did offer Wolves an outlet.
One of the biggest disappointments of the night really was the manner in which Wolves continually gave away the ball, again it was like an hot potato, when Cardiff got the ball on the ground they just passed through us, as with Fulham, they always seemed to have an extra man going forward, especially down both flanks.
I'm a fan of Saiss, but mobility wise, he looks slower than Kevin McDonald, and that's saying something. Wolves don't have a midfield engine that presses the opposition, there's plenty of running around, but not enough 'in your face' challenges.
Warnock made his chances at the break, it worked, Wolves for me, just got deeper and deeper, and i'm surprised it took so long for Connolly and Cardiff to equalise. The defending yet again was woeful, how the ball was missed by both Batth and Iorfa, only they can answer that.
As mentioned earlier, at 1-1, Saville had a chance to put Wolves back in front, but Amos made a great save, of the two keeper's, Burgoyne was definately the busier. Cardiff deserved their winner, Pilkington able to run onto the pass and went unchallenged as he got his shot away.
The only surprise for me was that the margin of victory wasn't greater, Wolves had nothing to offer at 2-1.
