What a game that was! It will live long in the memory alongside the 4-3 win over Leicester, the 4-4 away to Swansea and the 6-4 win over Rotherham. Depending how people look at the game, in my opinion there was so many different emotions that i went through during the game.
Just before kick-off it was the surprise that Lonergan hadn't made the game and Harry Burgoyne starting instead. I've seen him play a few times now, most recently in the Checkatrade Trophy v Sunderland game. This was a big step up for the young keeper and for me he didn't look out of play, he could do nothing about any of the Fulham goals.
Going back to mixed emotions endured during a game, Wolves took the lead against the run of play, but if i was posting from a Fulham perspective, i wouldn't be happy with the contribution of the keeper for Hause's goal. Sometimes i look back at moments in games where a squandered chance can be seen as costly, well the opening given to Dicko at 1-0 was costly, the Fulham keeper again doing himself no favours at all in spilling the ball.
Wolves were punished for the squandered Dicko chance, from being 1-0 up and going in at the break 3-1 was a lot to take in. Each one of the three Fulham goals were questionable from a Wolves point of view. The first was well taken, but the run not tracked, the second, poor defending for the header and for their third, the warning signs were there just before with the scorer left all alone of the edge of the box.
I think Fulham dictated a lot of the first half, simple pass and movement, always looked like they had an extra man in their build-up play. For Wolves, too much standing off the opposition, not pressing or picking up the runners.
I'll be honest, at 3-1 down going into the second half, i couldn't see a way back into the game, but Bodvarsson coming on for Saiss it gave Dicko much needed help and also freed up both Costa and Cavaleiro. To turn the game around from 3-1 down to 4-3 even now was a great comeback, Doherty in the right place for the second, both Cavaleiro's and Edwards's goal deserve the plaudits, because they nearly got Wolves three points when at half-time i could only see more coming from the visitors.
It was difficult to take Ayite and again down to a player being left on his own. I applaud the effort and the comeback. Lambert will know though, Wolves can't keep conceding goals like they have done today, Wolves look good on the counter=attack, but so vulnerable without the ball.
