Another game where Wolves failed to show up first half, and second half they could easily have taken something from it. Wolves at the back looked uncomfortable in the first half, nervy passes, dwelling on the ball and then the long punt up field. Wolves made van La Parra and his side look like world beaters. As Huddersfield attacked Wolves backed off, van La Parra was able to run at Wolves and numerous times going unchallenged.
Danny Batth's slip didn't look good at the time and Wolves reaction when the ball came back back off the post wasn't good, van La Parra made it his. The story of the first half really, Wolves lacked creativity, gave the ball away a lot, with Huddersfield pressing us into making mistakes. George Saville's effort from distance and the disallowed goal the only moments of note.
As with Rotherham and Birmingham away, a different Wolves side in the second half turned up. Changes were needed and when Costa, Oniangue and Teixeira came on things improved. Wolves looked to play on the foot. Huddersfield can than their keeper Ward for a few saves he made, especially the one from Bodvarsson's header. Teixeira wasn't afraid to try his luck from distance, unlucky that it came off the post and Oniangue not too far away with a bicycle kick. Oniangue will need time to adapt to the championship in my opinion.
I think the side that started won't be the one that takes the field in our next game against Burton. Wolves looked shaky in defence, lacked anything going forward and created little. Once Zenga introduced his subs, it improved Wolves and we looked a threat going forward. Slowly, but surely i think a few players that played under Kenny Jackett won't get a look in.
On reflection, a poor start, but encouraging signs in the second half, food for thought for Walter Zenga.
