I have to admit, it's the first time in ages that i wish the game never ended. Coming away from Molineux this evening after watching Wolves win and convincingly so is hopefully a sign of things to come.
From a Wolves perspective it was a decent game to watch. The front three of Bodvarsson, Mason and Teixeira pressed the Reading defence and also bringing quite a few moments of panic for the Reading keeper Al Habsi. The Reading keeper played a big part in keeper the score down to 2-0.
Wolves as a unit looked dangerous each time they ventured forward, time and again in the first half Wolves tried to make the breakthrough, Teixeira, Mason and Saville all having chances to score, the Saville one was dealt well with by Al Habsi. In games like these you often wonder if it's going to be your day, and finally just before half time Doherty provided Wolves with the first goal, Al Habsi no chance with his powerful effort.
It was good to go in at the break a goal up, 1-0 soon became 2-0, Saville, not everyone's cup of tea, took the corner that Mason headed in, it was one of those that if you're the defending side then you wouldn't be happy with the marking for it. A bit of breathing space for Wolves at 2-0 up.
Bodvarsson again looks like he will cause problems for the opposition in this division. He is quick, decent in the air and also has an eye for goal. On another day he could easily have bagged a couple with the two chances he had in the second half, one powerful shot and also an header.
Teixeira will be a big hit with the Wolves faithful if he continues where he left off today, plenty of tricks up his sleeve, jinking runs and plenty more to come i'm sure. One jinking run in particular in front of the south bank left many around me speechless, quick feet and close control near the by-line, going past a couple of players as if they wasn't there.
The last two games and defensively Wolves have looked suspect from set-pieces, but today as a unit Wolves dealt with what was thrown at them. Only one moment in the second half that was wasted by Reading, a free header put way over the bar, their best and probably only chance of scoring.
A mention for George Saville, he has divided Wolves fans opinion since he returned to the club after loan spells away. He looks like he has taken his chance, and also not afraid to get himself into positions to test the opposition keeper, alongside both Evans and Edwards, he also pressured the opposition throughout into making mistakes.
A really enjoyable day and 2-0 could really have been a few more. Wolves followers can accept defeat if the team fight for the cause, in victory today the team as a unit worked their socks off. Zenga Wolves playing with a belief, and made subs when he needed to.
My thoughts on today's 2-0 victory.
