Myself and those in attendance witnessed what can only be described as a poor excuse for a game of football from both sides. But it was no more than i expected before kick off, as stated in recent meeting between the sides. It's a no thrill style of football.
It's difficult to find any positives from the game bar the clean sheet and in the second half, the return of James Henry. Kortney Hause may have enjoyed his time away with the England U21s, but in the first half he almost single handedly tried to put something on a plate for Ipswich, three times he hesitated, the third time he got out foxed after dwelling on the ball and even Ikeme tried his best to be clever in the penalty area trying to play about with the ball. Sigurdarson replaced the injured Wallace in the starting line up and did nothing in the game to convince me that he deserves to start on the right hand side of the front three.
Going back to the style of play, it doesn't help Wolves having Zyro flicking the ball on and then having no one to get on the end of the ball, but Wolves, Ikeme and others were happy to lump it, well until James Henry entered the field of play. The way Wolves are set up it's often to play cautious, try not to concede, but with very little on the attacking front.
Chances for both sides were limited, Ipswich with one decent chance in each half, the one that hit the post and in the second half, a chance that Ikeme turned away. For Wolves, in the opening five minutes or so, even though it was at the Stan Cullis end, Saville appeared to have had his shirt pulled back in the penalty area.
Subs are often made and we often hope they can have an mpact, i feel James Henry at least offered Wolves an attacking option, Le Fondre and Mason also on, but both contributed very little. Wolves could easily have won it at the death with Doherty's looping header. A point each and no more than both teams deserved.
