After the four wins on the trot prior to this game i think most of us thought Wolves could make it five. Back down to earth with a massive bang. Cardiff looked good in attack and even before the opening goal had the deflected Danny Batth effort that went narrowly wide and the effort that hit the woodwork, the danger signs were there.I take nothing away from the three goals Cardiff scored. The first two from Noone, i can see why Wolves were looking to sign the player, an eye for goal and also the assist for the third.
Each goal that Wolves conceded raised questions for me. The old comment of an opposition player having time on the ball to go for goal. I don't blame Ikeme for any of the goals, not even the first where it went over him, some may see it differently. I do question why Danny Batth didn't try and put a challenge in for the second goal.
I often come away from games, especially after a defeat and try and look at a turning point in a game, just before the second Cardiff goal was one.The chance that van La Para put wide was just that, sixty seconds later and the second goal goes in.
Wolves may have scored three against Fulham in midweek, but today, despite Zyro getting his third goal in two games, how much Wolves need a striker to get on the end of things, low crosses put right across the six yard area and no one to gamble on them.
Kenny Jackett needs to take a good long hard look at how the side played today, too much standing off the opposition and inviting pressure isn't want we want to see. The ball again given back to the opposition either by poor passing or by poor clearances.
I'm hoping for a big response at QPR next Saturday.
