What can i say, when you think Wolves can't disappoint me much more, they again turn in a woeful performance. The goal and opening fifteen minutes aside, this was on a par with what we witnessed against Leeds.
The referee was the star of the show for the first goal for Wolves and Sheffield Wednesday. I can see why they were both given, but as soon as Afobe scored, he couldn't wait to even it up for the home side. At 1-1 the writing was on the wall for me.
Barry Bannan started to influence the game, so good on the ball, chasing Wolves down and in our faces. Everything Sheffield Wednesday created was through him. Wolves in comparison had McDonald and Price who couldn't get near him.
Defending has been much criticised since Williamson returned to Newcastle and rightly so. Forestieri was able to latch onto the poor headed clearance from Danny Batth to give his side the lead. I just couldn't see no way back for Wolves. Two yellow cards and both McDonald and Price after that pulling out of challenges.
Going into the second half 2-1 and more and more Bannan played a big part, pulling the strings for his side. Purdi able to capitalise on another poor defensive clearance. The fourth, another mistake with McDonald easily lost the ball to Nuhiu then set up Hooper and score.Holt may have come on for Wolves in the half, but made no difference whatsoever. One bright spark in patches again was Jordan Graham, even with the goals raining in at one end, his delivery was half decent, pity there wasn't anyone making runs to get on the end of them.
Wolves can't continue as they're going, we're slowly, but surely getting dragged into a relegation battle. At the back we look shot, going forward it's the same old toothless, slow tempo football. Wolves are easy to play again, teams can just pass right through us. The home side work as a unit and have movement all over the pitch.
My thoughts on another poor Wolves display.
