An absolutely shocking performance from Wolves last night. Both sides in the first half before City's goal never troubled the opposition keeper. Out the two sides though, Wolves to me looked the most likely. Again, as been said in numerous games, the final delivery into the box was poor. Nathan Byrne on the left side, and both Dominic Iorfa and James Henry seeing lots of the ball, but as already pointed out, the final delivery left a lot to be desired. The Bristol City set up, you will always get chances down both flanks.
Wolves restricted the home side to shooting from distance in the half, but when it mattered, the cross from Bennett was headed in by Kodjia. Another goal that Wolves have conceded where i feel either central defender or Martinez should have come off his line to claim.
Even now, i'm still baffled by what happened in the second half. Wolves losing 1-0 and Kenny Jackett decides to take both Benik Afobe and Nathan Byrne off. The latter enjoying seeing enough of the ball to cause the home side problems. Afobe looked an isolated figure in his 45 minutes on the pitch. If your going to make changes, keep your main goal threat on the pitch. But Jackett decided to go with three central defenders and play both Golbourne and James Henry as wing backs.
The second half from Wolves was littered with giving the ball back to City and Luke Freeman enjoying the freedom of the central midfield area, and after the first two changes, it gave the City midfield plenty of time on the ball. With both Grant Holt and Adam Le Fondre on, i expected more creativity, but Le Fondre was played as the main striker, with Hot playing anywhere but alongside him.
I'd love to turn round and say Wolves looked like getting back in the game, the disallowed Edwards effort and Doherty's penalty appeal, we didn't. The most likely to score again was Bristol City. Chasing a goal, you expect a positive change, but Doherty's wasn't.
So many under par performances, players going through the motions and after the two changes at the start of the second half, many looked lost. The head coach picks the side and it's his responsibility to get the best out of his squad. Four defeats in five and worrying times ahead if you ask me.
