A much improved first half and a well worked goal involving McDonald, Golbourne and then the Edwards finish. Decisions and circumstances in the game had a bearing on the result. At 1-0 up i'm always hoping for that second goal as proved it wasn't enough. The Middlesbrough boss made inspired second half subs in bringing on both Downing and Adomah, this helped give Fabbrini a lot more freedom.
You could see a 'boro goal coming with Wolves dropping deeper and deeper. Henry's chance just before the equaliser. Fine margins like this and you often get punished at the other end. Those around felt Martinez could have saved Fabbrini's effort, i just think he was just out of reach of it.
Again, a decision went against wolves when Golbourne was fouled on the left side of the Middlesbrough box, the replacement ref ignored the Wolves appeals. I have no complaints in regards to the award of the Middlesbrough penalty that Byrne gave away.
For the third goal, Danny Batth didn't have to dive in the way he did. the resulting free-kick from Downing, as good as it was could have been avoided. Martinez's starting position wasn't great. He was too far too his right if you ask me.
A 1-3 defeat, positives, a decent first half, but Kenny Jackett needs to look at why Edwards and eventually subbed Byrne continued in the game. Edwards was shattered and Byrne took a knock just before he gave away the penalty. The decision to keep Coady on as well after he was close to getting a second yellow in the first baffled me. But, after the Hause injury, Coady moved to play alongside Batth.
A reaction to the Derby and Brentford game was needed, we got one, but as of late, Wolves came away with nothing, despite creating chances and having chances cleared.
