After last week's defeat and performance, this one was an improvement. The referee was happy to make himself the star of the show in this game. I've no complaints in regards to the penalty award, an easy decision for the official. A defence splitting pass and Golbourne's clumsy challenge got what it deserved, a penalty against Wolves.
Martinez has comes in for some deserved stick since joining on loan, but last week at Bolton and again today deserves credit. He saved Hemed's penalty and also was quick to react for the follow up. He commanded his area throughout, dealt with crosses and also what Brighton's attack fired at him.
Wolves as an attacking unit aren't creating enough, again the lump it down field option is evident. Our central midfield pairing don't offer much creativity, and once Edwards ventures forward, his midfield partner is often left exposed when a move breaks down.
Adam Le Fondre probably offered Wolves with their only real chance of the game that was cleared off the line. Kourtney Hause was not too far away from getting on the end of a James Henry corner.
The match as a contest over when the referee deemed Coady's challenge on Rosenior a straight red. I've not seen a replay as of yet, so i can only say of what i had seen in real time. Both players went to ground to contest the loose ball, and Rosenior came off worse. The referee couldn't wait to issue a red card. It's strange how soon Rosenior returned to the field of play. The referee happy to stop play on numerous occasions and award free-kicks against Wolves. It's strange how he failed to produce a second yellow to LuaLua after gave away a free-kick for a shirt pull.
A point gained and a clean sheet. Positives, the performance of Martinez and Wolves not collapsing when down to ten men. Also the return of Iorfa, at least he gives Wolves an outlet down our right.
